Hurricane Sandy wreaked havoc in the Eastern parts of the US this week. At least 181 people have been reported killed by this storm.  Weather forecasters have been praised for correctly forecasting Sandy, leading to evacuations which saved hundreds or thousands of lives.

Most of the fatalities are from the US. Other affected areas include Haiti, Cuba and other neighbouring countries. The damage caused by the storm is estimated to be around $50 billion.
