Three tournaments in 1 weekend for Western Cape Boxing

On Friday 24 Western Cape will witness an unprecedented move when 2 Professional Boxing tournaments will take place in the city. As if that is not enough another tournament is in Knysna the next day, Saturday 25 November. One tournament will be in Hope Street Cape Town whereas the other one will be taking place in Wynberg Military base. Both tournaments are sanctioned by BSA and the less than 10 officials that we have in the province will have to attend to both tournaments.

Tournament 1

The Wynberg tournament is hosted by Kalakoda promotion and will have three WBF Africa title fights taking place. The title fights will be for the Light heavyweight and the Featherweight divisions. The Main bout will see the unbeaten featherweight sensation Thembani “baby Jake” Mbangatha versus Mayihlome “Topper” Mjonono battling for the Vacant WBF Africa and Western Cape Featherweight titles.  Mbangatha Has an unblemished record of 7 fights with no defeat and 4 of his wins were by knockouts whereas Mjonono has 5 fights with 3 wins and 2 defeats.

The main supporting bout will see the former MMA and Kickboxer Nickolas Radley facing Makhosonke Zwengu for the vacant WBF Africa Light heavyweight title. Radley also has an unblemished 4 – 0 record with all his fights coming inside the distance while Zwengu has 18 fight and 12 loses.

The third title fight sees the flamboyant Chamunorwa “Sting” Gonorenda defending his WBF Africa title belt against DRC’s Tshanda Tshams. Sting has 21 fights and only 9 wins while Tshams only has 2 fights and 1 win.

Undercard

Jr Lightweight: Lunga Sitemela vs Koos Mashiye, jr Lightweight: David Raijuli vs Msindisi Sompondo, Jr Middleweight: Aziz Mponda vs Abdul Aziz, Featherwieght: Samuel”Tyson” Essau vs Mveleli Fanti, Heavyweight: Kilola “Knife” Didier vs Wikus Ludeke, ight Heavyweight: Chris Bobo vs Bruno Mukala.

 

Tournament 2

Meanwhile in Hope Street the unbeaten 9 – 0, 9 knockouts specialist Emile Kalekuzi will fight Lungisa Jikani for a 8 rounds non-title fight. The DRC native has finished all his last 9 foes inside the distance and will face the biggest test of his career. It will be the first time that he fights someone with more than 3 wins in their record when he fights a 16 Jikani. Jikani has 27 Fights under his record with 16 Wins, 10 loses and a solitary draw.

Other Fights will be Sinethemba Bam vs Simthembile Luzipho, Marios vs Sanele Msimang, Thembelani Makholwa vs Dwayne Reinhardt, Michael Daries vs Edward Nyamwanda, Banele Tuswa vs Benjamin Hipkins. The promoter will be Commando Kalekuzi of Pound for Pound Boxing promotions.

Tournament 3

Promoter David Faas of David faas Productions will have a tournament in the Eden district when he stages another Western Cape Title fight between Nwabisile Cholani and Lazola Mjonono. They will be battling for the Western Cape Junior Flyweight title.

The other bouts will include; bantamweight Unathi Mndwana vs Sonwabo Twatwa, Jr featherweight Monwabisi Nangu vs Sandile Damane, Cruiserweight: Amador Kalonji vs Moses Bila, Flyweight: Yanga Ndoyana vs Siphosethu Madasi, Lightweight: Xoliswa Jonas vs Maria Martin. This tournament will take place in Chriss Nissen primary School in Knysna.
