Occupation: Freelance Boxing writer, Analyst and Fan

Motto: The safest place that a Boxer will ever be is the centre of the ring. Anywhere else Boxers feel unsafe because they dedicate their lives to fighting.

Sinethemba started boxing at a tender age of 12 when he was introduced by Mr Khalipha. His family was against the sport but he managed to fight 15 fights between 1993 and 2003. He would have to quit boxing after every year and go back again when he felt the need until when he quit for good in 2003 after a devastating loss in the South Africa Students Sports Union (SASSU) championships.

His notable participation in the boxing ring were in 2001 and 2002 where he was representing the University of the Western Cape on National and provincial tournaments. In those years, he got the following honours:

2001 UWC World Cup gold medal,
2002 SASSU Gold medal,
2002 SASSU Boxer of the tournament,
UWC 2002 Boxing Merit award,
2002 UWC Sports Full Colours Bursary award,
and nomination to represent South Africa in the Boxing Zone 13 Tournament (Southern Africa region).

In 2003 he had to battle with both academic load and boxing challenges such that he lost his title via a second round stoppage to SivuyileNgwevela in the 2003 SASSU Boxing championships. He had to finally lay his gloves down and focus on his academic life.

Ironically in 2013, 10 years later after he had stopped boxing, he joined The Public News Hub and started a boxing news category. He is now a boxing columnist and reports on matches in South Africa and worldwide. His participation on social networks, media and live coverage of Boxing will help to bring boxing back to where it belongs as a national sport in South Africa.
