The Department of Education is planning to close 27 under-performing schools in the Western Cape. According to The Independent Online, the reasons for the closure of these schools include the diminishing number of learners, insufficient future growth and poor quality of teaching and learning.

Staff members of some of these schools are not happy with the government’s intentions and have indicated that they won’t close their schools without a fight. The Independent Online provides a full report.
