Cape Town is considered one of the most beautiful places in the world. It offers a number of renowned attractions such as Table Mountain, Robben Island, Victoria and Alfred Waterfront, Canal Walk and many more. In 2011 Table Mountain was chosen as one of the new 7 wonders of nature (iol). Some have named Cape Town the most beautiful city in the world. Below we share an article that was written by the Africa Travel Guide about Cape Town:

Cape Town: World’s Most Beautiful City

Cape Town, a spirited city in South Africa, is a very popular destination among holiday makers from around the world.

In deed, Cape Town is so popular that in May 2011 it was named as the best travel destination in the world in a travellers’ poll conducted by TripAdvisor – the world’s most popular travel website.

The website drew on millions of online reviews to name Cape Town as the top destination, ahead of leading destinations such as New York, Sydney and London, which also featured in the best ten.

Cape Town is full of activity at any time of the day (and night). The cafe’s, restaurants, pubs and shopping malls are usually a beehive of activity during daytime and by night the famous Long Street (the capital of Cape Town night life) beckons you to sample the city’s best entertainment.

The self-evident attraction of Cape Town is the Table Mountain. This unusually flat mountain stands proud in the heart of the city, and daily trips up to the summit in a cable car make for a memorable adventure. There is a restaurant at the mountain top, a curios shop, and the most spectacular views that you can ever find over Cape Town and the surrounding oceans.

While on South Africa holidays in Cape Town, a city guide will most certainly advise you to tour the Boulder’s Beach. This beach area that is inhabited by African Penguin is popular among visitors as it gives a real sense of these quirky creatures in their natural habitat. Boulder’s Beach is white and sandy, with shallow, calm and warm waters. The beach has many perfectly smooth, rounded boulders after which it was named.

The V&A Waterfront is also popular among individuals enjoying Cape Town holidays. V&A Waterfront, which is partly a shopping mall, has some of the most exclusive shops in the region as well as award winning cafés and restaurants. There are fun kid’s games and activities with live shows taking place in the outdoor amphitheatre.

The V&A Waterfront is home to the Two Oceans Aquarium with overhead shark tanks and a kid’s touch pools. From here you can take boat rides and a ferry ride out to the Robben Island, which was the prison where Nelson Mandela was jailed for 27 years.

Cape Town airport, which was recently renovated to bring it into line with international standards, is an excellent entry point to South Africa. When in South Africa it is recommendable to hire a car and begin your Cape Town safari. Self-drive tours starting in Cape Town are very popular among visitors to South Africa.

While on Cape Town holidays, you will get accommodation in the many hotels dotted around the city, including Holiday Inn, Sheraton, Mount Nelson, Cape Grace as well as the hotels in the V & A Waterfront (Table Bay, Alfred, Victoria and Radisson).

If you are on budget Cape Town holidays, you can find affordable accommodation in small guest houses and self-catering apartments outside the city.
