pblIn Orient Theatre, East London on Friday 28 June South Africa will witness the first ever Premier Boxing League (PBL). This is when the premier league of Boxing showcases its first bouts of a 10 month long boxing league that includes the finest boxers around the country in lightweight, featherweight, Bantamweight, and Flyweights.

Interesting enough, the national titles will not be online in this affair as we will see four SA champions in this league hoping to elevate themselves into millionaire statuses.

In the PBL Western Cape is represented by Vusumzi “dirtyboy” Tyatyeka, Lwando “Floyd” Molwana, Toto Helebe, and Mzuvukile “Old Bones” Magwaca. Toto Helebe is a champion in the Bantams, Tyatyeka and Magwaca are in the top 2 in their respective divisions, while Molwana is ranked 6th by Boxing South Africa.

BoxersOn the first bill of the PBL Tyatyeka faces Vusumuzi Bokolo of East London. They will be fighting each other for the third time after Tyatyeka knocked out Bokolo on two occasions within 4 rounds. In the first fight Tyatyeka won TKO 4th round and on the second one he won TKO 4. If Bokolo’s record is anything to go by it is clear that he lost 7 times by 6 Kos, and within boxing circles this means he has a glass jaw.

Bokolo is now ranked no 3 acording to April ratings. Tyatyeka’s confidence is still brimming after a win against Gyorgy Mizsei Jr of Hungary over 12 rounds at the beginning of June. Tyatyeka won that fight with no effort and all judges gave it to him by unanimous decision.

The rest of the PBL Fight Card on 28 June stands like this: 6 rounds Mfundo Gwayana vs Makazole Tete, 6 rounds Vusumzi Tyatyeka vs Vusumzi Bokolo, 6 rounds Aphiwe Mboyiya vs McBute Sinyabi. There are also some women’s bouts in Sherrodene Fortuin vs Gcobisa Simanga, and Nomvelo Magcaba vs Asandiswa Ncokwana

Y always when opportunities like these come to present than there is always a certain part in SA that gets the opportunity or presented for instance Gauteng,Eastern cape etc except us in the Free state. I am interested in this league but am also disappointed in the manner where it is always launched. This is a good idea for everyone interested
