On Friday, the residents of Johannesburg came out in their numbers in support of the World Changers SA charity event at BAR9 in Midrand. Celebrities, entertainers and members of the public were part of the drive to collect as many warm clothes and blankets as possible for beneficiaries in and around Johannesburg.

The Winter Warmer Party for Charity is a party with a difference; guests donate clothes and blankets at the door to gain entry into the electrifying venue and enjoy live music and DJs galore. All proceeds and donations collected this year will be split among eight beneficiaries including schools and homes in Soweto and Tembisa.

The master of ceremonies at this year’s event was Thato Molamu whom many know better as ‘Nicholas’ in Generations. He did a stellar job entertaining the crowd with his easy personality and wacky sense of humour. The humble Molamu wove his way through the crowd leaving smiles in his trail.

Lee Moagi, one of the event organisers, said: “We have been truly blessed with the support we received this year. We’d like to thank everyone who came through with donations and helped make this event possible. World Changers looks forward to passing the donations onto the schools and other beneficiaries.”

DJ Cuebur, Jonny Joburg and a host of other entertainers gave Johannesburg party animals good reason to stay on the dance floor by playing a medley of popular hits throughout the night. As the evening progressed, BAR9 became packed with generous party goers.

World Changers SA is excited about the growth of the Winter Warmer initiative and the positive response from businesses and the public. They have already started making plans for next year’s event in anticipation for even more beneficiaries. Organisations such as World Changers SA must be commended for their selfless determination to help others.
