Bafana Bafana’s hopes of booking a flight to the 2014 World Cup set to be staged in Brazil will be determined on Saturday, when they face off with Botswana in a must-win game for Gordon Igesund’s troops,  that will take place at the Moses Mabhida stadium in Durban.

However, the man in charge for Bafana Bafana, Gordon Igesund believes he has selected the strongest squad since taking over the national team and he is confident that his troops will emerge victorious in this much-anticipated battle for the place to the last round of the qualifying matches to next year’s World Cup.

Speaking to SAPA, Gordon said “I think I’ve selected a very strong team, probably one of the strongest teams I’ve selected for a long time.” Gordon Igesund went on to say that every player who has been selected it’s because of the hard work they have added in their game. “They are there because of hard work. A lot has gone into selecting this team, and I am confident we can come through and beat Botswana,” he said.

An eyebrow-raising call-up has been that of ex Bafana Bafana captain, Bongani Khumalo who was heavily criticised for Bafana Bafana’s failure to lift the Africa Cup of Nations earlier this year. Howver, the Swaziland-born defender has shaken off all the criticism and is ready to help Bafana win on Saturday.

The England-based stopper attributed his call-up to his consistent form at his club, Doncaster. “My club form has been very good for a while now,” said Bongani Khumalo. Bafana Bafana is 2nd in group A with eight points while the Zebras are in the 3rd position with seven points.

Gordon Igesund cadres need to collect maximum points from the Zebras and pray for the Ethiopians, who are leading the group with ten points, to lose against Central African Republic for them to proceed to the last round of the qualifying matches. Both these two encounters will run concurrently on Saturday, with the harmless Central African Republic hosting the dangerous Ethiopia.
