Boxer Lwando “Floyd”  Molwana died on Sunday 06, September 2015 in Marikana, Cape Town. It is reported that the cause of his death were gun wounds suffered when he was attacked by a gunman. Molwana is believed to have been staying in Marikana. The sporting fraternity, together with the boxing community, is shocked by the sudden passing of this young man with sterling achievements inside the ring.

Molwana was introduced into the Premier Boxing League (PBL) when he had 10 wins, with 5 of them by knockouts. However, he lost his last three fights in the PBL in the Featherweight division. His fight record will forever stand at 10 Wins, 3 Losses (against Aphiwe Mboyiya, Macbute Sinyabi, and Oscar Chauke, all former SA champions).

Boxing fans have expressed shock in the sudden passing of Molwana when Boxing was gaining back its momentum, with the public broadcaster being back in the picture. Unfortunately, millions of South Africans will never see the talent of Molwana and other Boxers that have been campaigning during the television blackout in South Africa.

Sorry ,I was distracted. I bow my head to pay homage to a gallant son of the soil. To my eye Molwana was one of the precious gems ever to be produced in Cape Town. He was certainly in the mould of the great Bashew Sibaca,Patrick Mboma,Nikka Khumalo, the Whiteboy brothers and a host of others. He had good basic boxing skills and possessed great potential. At the time of his untimely demise ,his potential had yet to be fully explored and harnessed. May his soul Rest In Peace.
