It is reported that a man shot and killed his wife before turning the gun on himself at a Johannesburg police station in the early hours of Tuesday morning.

According to the police spokesman, the couple had arrived at the Parkview Police Station at about 3 a.m. because of a domestic dispute they had been having. The police then requested the couple to complete domestic violence forms. In the process of attempting to unravel the nature of the dispute, the husband is said to have requested to go to his car to get his spectacles. When he returned, he shot his wife. However there are conflicting reports about where the wife was shot. Some reports indicate that she was shot in the upper body while others quote police spokesman, Lungelo Dlamini as saying the woman was shot in the knee. There is, however, agreement on the fact that the woman died at the scene of the crime.

As the police realised what was happening, they rushed in to try and disarm the man before he did further damage but their actions were futile and a little too late. The man turned the gun on himself, shooting himself in the upper part of the body. He is also reported to have died on the scene of the shooting. The police spokesman, Lungelo Dlamini informed reporters that some counselors had to be called in to speak to the police officers that had witnessed the shooting. He further said that the police would make further investigations into the issue that had caused all this furore, the domestic dispute. The man was aged 47 while his wife was two years younger at 45 years of age.
