Popular maskandi artist Mtshengiseni Gcwensa (iNdidane) has died. Details surrounding his death are still sketchy. However, it is reported that he died on Monday morning following a long battle with an undisclosed illness.
Gcwensa was born in Msinga, northern KZN. He won numerous awards during his career as a singer. At the peak of his career, a number of maskandi fans regarded him as the best maskandi artist. He was a founding member and leader of the award-winning maskandi group, Amageza Amahle, which was formed in 2004. The group’s song Viva ngeNdidane won the song of the year award during the 2013 SATMA awards.
