The husband of Murdered Port Elizabeth Teacher, Jayde Panayiotou appeared in the Port Elizabeth Magistrate’s Court this morning.

29-year-old Jayde was abducted outside her complex on the morning of Tuesday the 21st of April.

Jayde, a teacher at the Riebeek College Girls’ High School in Uitenhage, was reported missing by her sister on the same day. Police conducted a vast search for her, which included the flying squad and K9 unit.

Her body was discovered in an abandoned area the next day in the Kwanobuhle township in Uitenhage.

Jayde’s husband, Christopher Panayiotou was arrested last week after it was discovered that she was not a victim of random crime. Christopher is accused of hiring men to kill his wife.

He appeared in court this morning,  for the first time since his arrest, in connection with the kidnapping and killing of his wife, Jayde.

Panayiotou will remain in custody until his next court appearance on 19 June, where he will face four charges. The 28-year-old faces charges of robbing, kidnapping, murder and conspiracy to kill.

Last week Thando Siyoli, 31, and the second suspect, a family member, 28, were arrested.

The family member, who’s identity cannot be revealed until he appears in court and is charged, was arrested over the weekend. He is alleged to be the mastermind behind Panayiotou’s killing.

Thando Siyoli, the first man who was arrested in connection with Jayde’s murder, may turn state witness.

It is being reported that Siyoli was used as a decoy by police to trap for Christopher Panayiotou. He supposedly worked for Panayiotou as a bouncer at the Infiniti Club owned by Christopher Panayiotou .

It has emerged that a considerable amount of money was paid to Siyoli to kill Jayde.

Siyoli appeared in court last week and is expected to appear again on Wednesday, the 7th of May.

It is also being reported that police have arrested a third suspect in connection to the abduction and murder.

The 31-year-old man was arrested on Sunday in New Brighton, Port Elizabeth.

The police say more will be revealed after the 31-year -old appears in court today.
