KAIZER CHIEFS troops left the packed-to-capacity FNB stadium with their tails in between the legs after a 1-0 bashing by their arch-rivals Orlando Pirates in the 1st leg of the MTN8 semi-finals on Saturday.

It was clear from the onset that the Sea Robbers were out to pay sweet revenge to The Glamour Boys as per their captain Lucky Lekgwathi’s vow prior to the much-awaited for Soweto Derby.

Bucs started the game attacking from all sides and it was in the 12th minute when winger Daine ‘Matatazela’ Klate converted a free-kick which left Amakhosi’s Itumeleng Khune scratching his head in disbelief.

Roger De Sa’s army was well aware that one goal wasn’t enough, and for the whole first half they invaded Kaizer Chiefs territory with the hope of getting a second goal, but Amakhosi’s defenders denied them.

In the Second half Kaizer Chiefs coach, Stuart ‘Stu’ Baxter handed his hopes of getting the much-needed equalizer to Knowledge Musona, whose introduction changed the game for Amakhosi.

But Buc’s defenders kept a close eye on Knowledge Musona because there are all aware of what the Zimbabwean International is capable of doing if given a long rope.

Aware that the clock was ticking, Amakhosi kept the Buc’s goalkeeper, Senzo Meyiwa very busy in the second half, with Simphiwe Tshabalala firing shots from every tiny spaces that were available.

However, Senzo Meyiwa and his defenders were not prepared to see their rivals celebrating. Musona got the last clear-cut chance in the game just before the final whistle, but he failed to beat the on-form Durban born, Senzo Meyiwa.

The Sea Robbers will host the Glamour boys in the second leg of the MTN8 semi-finals on the 24th of September at Orlando Stadium.
