South African paralympian Oscar Pistorius has announced his return to athletics in a statement on his official website on Thursday night. For a long time, Oscar Pistorius was associated with hard work, perseverance and success despite countless odds. He competed against able-bodied athletes in various competitions. Now, Oscar Pistorius is accused of murdering his girlfriend.

On Valentine’s Day this year, attention shifted from his athletic career and focused on the events leading up to the fatal and allegedly accidental shooting of his girlfriend at his Pretoria home. During his bail application, Pistorius said that when he shot Reeva Steenkamp, he thought there was an intruder in his home.

Oscar Pistorius is out on bail of R1 million. A few weeks after being granted bail, Pistorius was seen out and about dining and dancing with friends. Recently, he was in the news after acquiring the services of a beautiful blonde athlete to assist him with his training.

The statement makes it clear that Pistorius is not making an official return to athletics. He is not preparing for any competitions. “His focus at this time remains entirely on the court case.” People who are close to Pistorius have suggested that returning to the track will help him find “the necessary mental and emotional equilibrium to process his trauma and prepare for the trial”.

The media reported that Apple US has come to the aid of the South African police regarding the password to the athlete’s iPhone 5. Apple has made its skilled technicians available to assist the South African murder investigation by accessing the information on the phone used by Pistorius on the night of the shooting. Oscar Pistorius cannot remember the password to his iPhone 5 which the police think holds some material information. Pistorius must be present in court on Steenkamp’s birthday, 19 August.

I wonder what it is that he is hiding. I really don’t believe he forgot the password. I’m glad Apple will assist.
