Pioneering South African hip-hop artist Linda “ProKid” Mkhize has died at the age of 37 after suffering a seizure attack.
According to a statement released by his family on Thursday morning, Pro died on Wednesday, 8 August 2018 whilst visiting friends in Johannesburg.
“He suffered a severe seizure attack whilst visiting friends and paramedics were called in to assist. They did their best to revive him to no avail and called his time of death at 8.38pm,” the statement said.
ProKid, who was born and raised in Soweto, is considered to be one of the pioneers of hip-hop music in South Africa. His untimely death came as a shock to his fans and fellow artists. Tributes have been pouring in on social media since the news of his passing broke.
