Umhlobo Wenene FM’s popular traditional music DJ Saba Mbixane, who died last week on Thursday following a motorbike accident he was involved in earlier in February, will be laid to rest on the 8th of March 2015 in Mount Frere, it has been announced.

Mbixane was involved in a motorbike accident in which he suffered serious head injuries on the 9th of February in Mount Frere. It is reported that he was found lying next to his bike. He was then rushed to hospital, where he spent more than two weeks in a critical condition. He died on the 26th of February at the Nelson Mandela Academic Hospital in Mthatha.

There are multiple memorial services planned for Mbixane. The Eastern Cape government has three memorial services arranged. People attending the memorial services were encouraged to wear traditional outfits as Mbixane is known to have promoted the preservation of heritage during his lifetime.
