If the news doing the rounds on all platforms of social media are anything to go by, there is a new romance in town. Rumour was abuzz on Monday that the gorgeous Bonang Matheba is dating the Nigerian music superstar, D’Banj.
Trouble all started when Somizi Mhlongo, a celebrity in his own right and also the radio and tv personality’s best friend forever(BFF) posted a picture of the two on Instagram. Even though he did not make a comment and removed the post almost immediately, the spark had been ignited. The picture had been reported and several social media users had passed their verdict on the ‘relationship’. Said one twitter user, “But Bonang and Dbanj actually look good together.” On Instagram, one user named Semaki wrote “I had to buy data, reset my password and log in on insta. Yup, Bonang is dating D’Banj. She looks so happy.”
Bonang, or Queen B as she is commonly known by her hordes of fans, was among the many artistes that had been invited to usher in the New Year from the home of the Nigerian super star, having arrived in the West African country on the 30th of December. Images that have made their way onto the social media, particularly Instagram, have shown the two too close for comfort. Bonang herself does not seem in the least bothered with the furore over this issue. She has, herself posted on Instagram a picture of herself with DBanj which has added to fueling these rumours. However, her official response, given through her spokesperson, publicity manager, Zoe Msutwana, has been, ” Bonang is single; she and D’Banj are just close friends.”
If this turns out to be true, it could strike a huge blow to the rebuilding process of Bonang’s relationship with longtime boyfriend and fellow DJ Euphonik whose real name is Themba Mbongeni Nkosi. The two have been in a relationship on and off for close to four years. Barely a month ago, Bonang had appeared in the media indicating that she could be getting married in under two years. This had led many in the entertainment fraternity to believe that their relationship was on the mend and was being taken to the next level.
As the old adage goes, only time will tell!
