Ukhozi FM listeners have sharply criticized uKhozi FM on social networks for supposedly showing favouritism in selecting the song of the year. This follows after Dj Tira’s Summertime was selected as the song of the year (2012) on uKhozi FM. Most people on Twitter and Facebook appear to have been expecting Dj Vetkoek & Mahoota’s via Orlando to be the song of the year.
Some people believed that Dj Sgqemeza had an influence in the selection of the song of the year since he and Dj Tira are known to be friends. To try and resolve the situation, Mandla Magwaza (Njinji) asked UKhozi FM’s Programme Manager Zandile Tembe to explain how the song of the year was selected. Tembe explained that the song of the year was determined by the number of votes it had. She said the top 5 songs had the following number of votes:
Therefore, Summertime had 1482 more votes than Via Orlando. Clearly, it deserved to win. However, many people were still not convinced

The problem with Via Orlando is the beat. They sing well but their beat is boring. Ayijayveleki. Kusho u BOoo POo Poo poo kuze kuyovalwa. Ayishayi njengeye-summertime.
Summertime is the best track of 2012, the votes proves that, and Via Orlando's beat is boring, it so so irritating afta two minutes bcoz it repeats 1 and da same thing.
THOSE WHO BLAME KHOZI FM ARE PROVING TO THE WORLD THAT THEY ARE NOT WELL INFORMED ABOUT THE MEDIA WORLD.

I think people have got missunderstanding with music dont blame Ukhozi fm, the thing is Via Orlando is great, uniqie even the words they have got that intertening masge, but when it come to the beat it dosent work out compered to summertime by Dj Tira ,if music is into you ,you can feel it unlike via orlando its tooooo fast guys as if like Pitoli music ,l love it i like i was going to vote for but the Fact is
