As South Africa mourns two of its entertainment gurus, Simba Mhere and Bojo Mujo, both of whom died on Saturday, the whole world is holding bated breath and keeping its fingers crossed for another entertainer, Bobbi Kristina Brown, who is fighting for her life in a Georgia hospital in the United States of America.

Brown, a singer in her own right, is the daughter of Whitney Houston and Bobby Brown. Her mother, Whitney was found in a bath tub three years ago in a drug induced stupor and was rushed to hospital where she later died. However, in Bobbi’s case, no drugs were mentioned even though she was found in the same scenario by her husband, Nick Gordon and a friend who quickly started Cardio Vascular Resuscitation and handed over to the police and hospital personnel. She was then taken to hospital where she is reported to have been put into a medically induced coma.

Speaking through his lawyer, Bobby Brown, the father of the star singer, said that his family needed time to deal with this issue and to render as much support as was needed to his daughter at a time like this. He was speaking particularly to the media who have been hounding the Georgia hospital where the twenty one year old singer is said to be receiving treatment.

Bobbi’s mother, Whitney was born to Cissy Houston, a gospel music sensation in her own time and was also a cousin to Dione Warwick, another pop singer. The father, Bobby Brown was the lead singer of the eighties sensation, New Edition, an R&B group. Both the parents of Bobbi’s struggled with substance abuse. While her mother is confirmed to have died from a drug induced stupor, her father has been arrested several times in drug-connected incidents. Whitney once described their fifteen year old marriage as drug and alcohol fueled.
