Log leaders Kaizer Chiefs took a positive stance of clarifying the misconception that if Amakhosi win the top of the log encounter against Platinum Stars on Sunday in Polokwane at 15h00, they (Kaizer Chiefs) will walk away with the PSL title.
Amakhosi used their Facebook page which consists of 601,539 members on Saturday afternoon to clarify the misconception that some football lovers have. Addressing their supporters, the Soweto giants wrote:
“The 62 Points- the magical number!
We still have a long way to go Amakhosi Faithful, take a look at some scenarios for us to win this ‘marathon’, the league.
Once Kaizer Chiefs gets 62 points, no team will be able to catch us, the way to get to that number for Chiefs will be to win two games and draw one of the remaining four.
From here on in Pirates who have played 25 games have 5 games left and can get to a maximum of 61 points if they win all their remaining games.
Platinum Stars have 49 points with four games to go and can get to a maximum of 61 points if they win all their games.
Should the Glamour Boys win all of their remaining games we will get to 67 points.
We cannot win the league this weekend, if we do win against Platinum Stars and Pirates lose to Wits then they will need just one point to win the title.
If Amakhosi defeat Stars and Pirates draw or lose their next two games against Wits and then Chippa United on Tuesday, then Amakhosi will technically be the Champions but might need one point to officially be crowned league winners, because mathematically Stars could still reach 58 points but their goal difference is inferior to that of the Glamour Boys! So keep supporting and wear your colours, the race is not over yet. Have your say and tell us what you think Amakhosi Faithful!”
From what Kaizer Chiefs wrote it is clear that the PSL title can still be won by either of the top three contenders which are Kaizer Chiefs in position one with 55 points, Platinum Stars in position two with 49 points and Orlando Pirates in position three with 49 points.
