Sinethemba Bam took five rounds to win against veteran Simo Mbande. Bam was ahead on points when Simo Mbande seemed to have strained a muscle during an exchange of blows. Mbande seemed to have hurt his right arm. The fight was characterised by Bam missing with his right hand as he was rushing for a knockout but in the later rounds he boxed easily until the unfortunate incident.
This win puts Bam’s record to 11 – 1 with 5 Kos. A win surely places Bam for national title contention even though his handlers seem to focus more on rebuilding his confidence. In other results, Vusumzi Tyatyeka won a Majority decision against Ilunga Masala of DRC. Siphenathi Qampi lost a split decision against Zimbabwe’s Tawanda Chigwida. Lazola Jikazana came from 2 knock downs to give away a split decision loss to Edward Nyamwanda of Tanzania.
