Popular Durban Kwaito group Big Nuz has lost one of its members, R Mashesha, who died on Friday following a long illness.
According to reports, Mashesha died of complications arising from an operation he recently underwent.
DJ Tira, the owner of Afrotainment, the recording label under which Big Nuz is signed, announced R Mashesha’s death on Twitter and Facebook.
“It is with deep sadness that I inform you of R. Mashesha’s death. Sibusiso Khomo passed away today (Friday 07 August). RIP sosha,” Tira tweeted.
A few minutes later, condolence messages started pouring in. Bonang Matheba, DJ Sox, Dumi Mkokstad and Khaya Mthethwa were among the first to send their condolences.
R Mashesha had been ill and out of the entertainment scene for a while. Rumours of his death started doing the rounds long before he died (as early as 2012).
