20140628_165535Lazola Mjonono wasted little time to beat Loyiso Dayimani. This was a sweet revenge for Mjonono, who suffered his debut loss to Dayimani 7 years ago. Lazola, coached by Patrick Siyolo Fanti, appeared very sharp and hungrier of the two. The fight took place in Nomzamo community Hall on Sunday 29 June. Lazola Mjonono went to the ring rated number 5 by BSA. The fight was stopped on the 1st round when Dayimani fell for the third time inside the first minute of the fight. The fight was scheduled for 6 rounds in the Mini flyweight division. Mojonono’s record will now improve to 11 Wins in 16 fights with 6 Knockouts and 5 losses. On the other hand Dayimani’s record will show 9 losses in 15 fights with only 3 wins.

The fight card was headlined by the women’s Junior Bantam weight national title elimination where Sharadene Fortuin who is ranked number 2 in BSA beat the number 1 contender in Melisa. Their fight lasted an action packed 10 rounds and the unanimous decision was an indication of everything that the local lady had displayed in the ring. Lady Jake appeared too defensive and did too little to make the local lady feel troubled. Now Sharadene Fortuin is set to face the Eastern Cape based Gcobisa Simanga. Fortuin is also coached by the young, energetic Patrick Fanti whom is as industrious as he was when he was still a boxer.

Dalisizwe Komani had some signs of ring rust in a decision against Monwabisi Cholani. The fight lasted the full 6 rounds in the Fly weight division. Komani was dropped in round 2 with a body blow. Dalisizwe looked tired and not a normal self but managed to pace his skilful opponent. Komani wasted time trying to run and when he took the fight to his opponent he was scoring with great combinations. This now means that Komani has maintained his 2 fights winning streak since losing to Mzuvukile Magwaca back in 2012.

Other results of the fight card were as follows; (Bantamweight) Alexander Gambinga W KO 1/6 Unathi Mndwana. (Flyweight) Anathi Hela W points 4 Sinethemba Maseti, (Featherweight) Sinethemba Bam W TKO 2/4 Ayanda Liwana. (Heavyweight) Herman Potgieter W KO Round 1/4 Unathi Ndlebe. The fight card was promoted by Charles Mjikelo of Amandla Boxing promotion.
