Former Ukhozi FM presenter Linda “Mr Magic” Sibiya has ditched the ANC and joined Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) ahead of the 2024 elections.

The announcement was made on Twitter (X) on Wednesday morning by the deputy president of the EFF Floyd Shivambu. “Welcome Fighter @Linda_Sibiya (Mr. Magic) to the Economic Emancipation Movement. Ward 25 in the region of @Ethekwini_EFF, the @EFFKZN, and the @EFFSouthAfrica is always blessed to receive dutiful members who are committed to the ground! #2024IsOur1994! #VoteEFF!” Shivambu tweeted.

This comes two days after former public protector Advocate Busisiwe Mkhwebane joined the red berets. Mkhwebane announced her decision on Monday in Mpumalanga, where she was welcomed by EFF leaders.

The popularity of the EFF continues to grow across the country, particularly among young people, many of whom are faced with unemployment. This could be a sign that the ANC will find if difficult to remain the governing party after the 2024 elections. Analysts predict that no political party will get 50% of the vote next year, meaning that the country will most likely be governed through coalition governments.
