Bhejane Msomi, a popular stick fighter from KwaZulu-Natal, has allegedly died in a murder-suicide incident that took place in his hometown of Highflats on Monday, 09 September 2024.
According to various sources on social media, Bhejane shot his girlfriend inside a shack that she used to conduct business. He then turned the gun on himself and died by suicide at the scene. It is said that his girlfriend was rushed to hospital, where she also died.
It is not yet known what triggered the incident.
Judging by reactions from different individuals on Facebook, it is clear that the news of Bhejane’s suicide and killing of his girlfriend has broken the hearts of many people.
Bhejane was considered one of the best stick fighters in the province of KwaZulu-Natal, particularly in the areas around the South Coast.
To be honest heartbroken is an understatement.
This Man was a true Warrior,He has only been the reason why I was so obsessed to go to You Tube spend time watching the stick fighting.
This guy,to him this was a sport flowing in his blood.He understood the game in and out,a guy in a fight with a smile which was a true reflection that indeed it was a game.
A guy whom was very pleasing to watch.Bhejane had his ways to entertain the crowd with those cultural tricky dances.He would confuse the opponent with those tricky dances to gain that laughter from the crowd,then the opponent would lose combination then hit the Warrior.
If this was a recognized sport,I would say Bhejane was a true Professional.He was so presentable,very neat.He would come well prepared for his game.
People would say they know his attacking style and plan for him but when you face Him,no matter how well you prepared would find ways to hit the opponent.
In the stick fighting fratenity,in South Coast we really lost someone who is irreplaceable.
It was long overdue to honor him as one of the best warriors while still alive,now has departed only could say things about Him that He could no longer Hear

It has been a very bad week,a guy from Mtubatuba did the same,so devil is winning a temporary battle,indeed He is a liar.
We shall truly miss Bhejane,watching the stick fighting without him shall never be the same again.
