Post Office Branch Closures 2024 Update

The South African Post Office (SAPO) continues to close branches across the country as part of its restructuring process.

In March, it was announced that the state-owned postal service would close 235 more branches this year. At that time, 645 branches were still active, 308 inactive and temporarily closed and 485 permanently closed.

Since then, 211 more branches have either permanently shut down or applied for permanent closure, leaving 526 active and 216 inactive/temporarily closed branches.

Forty branches which were previously inactive/temporarily closed are now marked as active.
