In a much anticipated bantamweight fight Toto Helebe will defend his South African Bantamweight title against Klaas “Iron Man” Mboyane this coming Friday, 31 May 2013. The fight will be staged by Kalakoda Promotions at the Cape Town’s Sun Hotel.
Many have anticipated ring rust from both boxers as it will be the first time they both fight since June last year. Toto has been keeping sharp as he had an exhibition bout with MzonkeFana when his fight was cancelled late last year. He stands at a 50 % KO rate which is something that promises fight fans they will have an early night on Friday.
The fight is dubbed the beat down in Cape Town and promises nothing less than that as confirmed by the promoter. According to the promoter MrKalakoda, “Helebe is in good shape, his weight is close to the limit so he won’t have any problems at the scales. He has a massive responsibility to keep the city’s pro boxing profile in the spotlight.”
There are however things you need to know about Toto Helebe that show that losing the fight is not an option. He is only Aged 28 the youngest champion to ever come from Cape Town apart from Sobandla. He was 4 years older than Sobandla when he won his title in 1998. He is only 14 fights at the moment. He won his title one fight less than Sandile Sobandla, who won his at 15 fights. He is the second Bantam weight from Cape Town to ever win a national title. He is also the second fighter to win the title in East London. However he is the first Cape Town basedfighter to win a title in East London in 14 years.
