Kaizer Chiefs to get a chance to lead Orlando Pirates by 10 points

KaizerChiefsThe performance of Kaizer Chiefs this season has been impressive. They have played 24 matches and lost only once, with 14 wins and 9 draws. It has been announced that they have been awarded the ABSA Premiership Q-Innovation Quarter Three (Q3) (R1.5 million). Last year they were also awarded the Q1. Clearly, things are going well for Amakhosi.

They are currently sitting at the top of the ABSA Premiership log table with 51 points. Orlando Pirates, who have played 23 games, are sitting at the second place with 44 points.

This means that on Saturday, when Chiefs face Golden Arrows, they will lead Pirates by 10 points if they win. A 10 point gap would give them more confidence and make it impossible for Pirates to catch up with them. However, Pirates are known to fight to the end. In the 2010/2011 season Capetonians were already celebrating, hoping Ajax would win the league title. However, Pirates came from behind and snatched it.

Even with the current point gap, it is still possible for Pirates to win the league, although mathematically speaking, the chances are slim. According to the number of wins, draws and losses the two Soweto arch-rivals have so far, the percentages (rates) show that the following results can be expected in the remaining games:

Pirates (7 games remaining):
4 wins + 2 draws + 1 loss = 14 points
14 points + 44 points = 58 points

Chiefs (6 games remaining):
3 wins + 2 draws + 1 loss = 11 points
11 points + 51 points = 62 points

Therefore, Chiefs are favoured by the odds to win the league. They are likely to finish the season with 62 points while Pirates finish with 58. However, it is always said that the game of soccer is unpredictable. Therefore, we can still expect anything.
