Radio legend Linda Sibiya, popularly known as “Mr. Magic,” is officially returning to the airwaves this April after signing a contract with Gagasi FM.
The Durban-based station revealed in its new lineup announcement on Wednesday evening that Mr. Magic will host ‘Gagasi FM Early Mornings’ from 05:00 AM to 06:00 AM on weekdays, and ‘Sunday Devotion’ from 06:00 AM to 10:00 AM on Sundays. This brings his total weekly airtime to 9 hours.
The news of Mr. Magic’s return has sparked widespread excitement among fans who have followed his journey since his iconic days at Ukhozi FM. Sibiya was a heavyweight at Ukhozi FM for many years starting in the mid-90s. However, he left the station unceremoniously in 2014 after being dismissed due to allegations of fraud involving his company, Magic Communications, and Edcon. While a court case was opened, it was later dropped due to insufficient evidence. Since then, his loyal fan base has been vocal in calling for his return to radio.
The momentum for his comeback reached a fever pitch in December when Mr. Magic appeared as a guest presenter on Gagasi FM, co-hosting ‘The Uprising’ with Felix Hlophe and Minnie Ntuli. During the broadcast, Hlophe challenged listeners to like a Facebook post, promising to petition management for Mr. Magic to co-host the New Year’s Eve crossover show if they reached 10,000 likes. The response was overwhelming; likes quickly exceeded 40,000 during the show and eventually topped 100,000.
With such undeniable public support, management obliged. Following Felix Hlophe’s temporary leave for personal matters, Mr. Magic stepped in to co-host the crossover show alongside Selbeyonce. The broadcast was so popular that high traffic actually crashed the Gagasi FM streaming app, further solidifying calls for his permanent return.
For Linda Sibiya, this move to Gagasi FM is more than just a job—it is the restoration of a bond with KZN listeners that was never truly broken.
The station also announced another notable return: Mzokoloko (Mzokhona Gumede). After leaving Gagasi FM in 2019 to join Ukhozi FM and later Vuma FM, Gumede returns to take over the slot previously held by Khaya Mthethwa, who has moved on to other endeavors. Mzokoloko will co-host the Gagasi FM Midday show with Luyanda Khambule from 12:00 PM to 15:00 PM on weekdays.

Ok Gagasi FM is officially better than Ukhozi FM. DJ Sgqemeza and Ayanda Msweli left Ukhozi. Meanwhile Gagasi is joined by Mr Magic and Mzokoloko. It’s going to be good 💪🏾
