Orient Crowd treated to exciting Boxing

On Sunday the 30 July 2017 the ever electric East London Orient Theatre arena was set alight by three South African title defenses and 7 bouts. One of those defenses featured Cape Town’s Toto Helebe who has not fought since last year. A Helebe come back cemented his spot as the head honcho of the Bantamweight division in this country. This defense for Helebe was the fourth one and it is a fight more than late Sandile Sobandla’s title defences. Toto Helebe won a Unanimous points decision over 12 rounds against Cebo Ngema of Gauteng province.

After the fight Cebo Ngema was not available for any interviews as he rushed to the change rooms. Even though Ngema’s camp conceded defeat, they had no choice as his face displayed it all. Ngema suffered three cuts on both eyes and was bleeding throughout the boxing match. This confirmed Toto Helebe as the longest serving South African champion among the current champions. he won his title back in 2012 when most of our current champions were still at amateur ranks.

In the Main bout fight Azinga Fuzile finished the last quarter of his Featherweight title defense with one arm as he had torn his left hand’s left hand ligament. He was facing a very super fit charging Rofiwa Maemu from Johannesburg’s Alen Toweel gym. Fuzile dropped Maemu with a punch in the first round but that did not stop Maemu from taking the fight to Fuzile throughout the whole 12 rounds. All three judges gave the fight to Fuzile as he scored with more blows than Maemu who missed with an estimate of 90 percent of thrown punches.

On the main supporting bout the crowd favourite Xolisile Voyi was taken to classroom by the champion Xolisile Voyi. Nxoshe’s skill sets are basic and most boxers underestimate him and he always shocks many people. Where he lacks he makes sure he compensate by being a very tactical able boxer and a master thinker. Like any craftsman self-awareness is key and Nxoshe goes almost to any fight knowing that he needs to go an extra mile to win the fight. Nxoshe retained the fight with a convincing Majority decision.
