Pirates displace Chiefs from the top of the log after beating Supersport 1-0

Orlando Pirates displaced Kaizer Chiefs from the top of the log on Wednesday after beating Supersport 1 – 0 at Orlando Stadium. Chiefs had been sitting on top of the log since the season started. On Tuesday they played a 0-0 draw with Sundowns, taking home only one point, which gave Pirates a chance to overtake them. They are now sitting at the second place with 36 points, one point behind Pirates, which now has 37 points.

Oupa Manyisa Scored Pirates’ goal just two minutes into the game. From there, both teams had a number of chances to score but none of those chances were converted into goals. Pirates had a chance to score a second goal when they were awarded a penalty in the 72nd minute. However, Andile Jali was denied by Rowen Williams. Williams went on to win the man of the match award after many other great saves.
