Former minister of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs Sicelo Shiceka passed away at St. Mary’s Hospital in the Eastern Cape on Monday, 30 April 2012. He was aged 45. It is reported that he had been on sick leave for over a year. Late last year he was relieved of his duties as minister after the public protector Thuli Mandonsela found that he had abused public funds. At the time of this writing, the type of illness that took his life was still undisclosed.
