Johannes Salie.

Day 1: It is unprecedented for Cape Town to have two Boxing tournaments in one weekend. Friday night fight nights will kick start in Parow High School, Cape Town on Friday 29 August when Johannes Salie seeks revenge against George Mdluli of Kwazulu Natal. Both boxers are contenders for the vacant WBF Pan African Light Middleweight title. Apart from the two launching their international boxing campaigns, they are also ranked one and two in the South African Middleweight ratings. In the future one of them would like to challenge Nkululeko Mhlongo for his national title as he had dominated Sikhulule Sidzumo to win a vacant WBF International Light Middleweight title.

Johannes Salie will be aiming to avenge his loss against Mdluli, which happened about a year back when he lost a points decision in front of his home crowd of Cape Town. His last fight was at the end of last year when he won a 3rd round stoppage over Bulelani Kwinana. Mdluli on the other hand lost his last fight in December against a Namibian journeyman Johannes Mwetupunga.

Two prospects Sinethemba Bam and Mnikelo Ndema will also have their fights during this tournament while Phila “Poqo” Mpontshane will be making his Cape Town debut. Doors will be opening at 18:00.

The undercard is as follows; JnrMiddle 8rounds-Chris Mugisho(DRC) vs Jimmy Mabudga(DRC), JnrLight 6rounds-Phila Mpontshane(CPT) vs Dumisani Tose (EC), JnrBantam 6rounds- Minikelo”Bompie” Ndema (CPT) vs Khanyiso Skwari (EC), Feather 4rounds-Sinethemba “Taylor”, Bam (CPT) vs SiveMpongolo(EC), Bantam 4rounds-Alex Ngambinya (Zim) vs Bonani Ngozi(EC), Heavyweight 4rounds Patrick Mandzinga(CPT) vs Herman Potgieter (CPT). Myolisi Xayo.

Day 2: At the other end of town on Saturday in OR Tambo Sports Complex, Myolisi Xayo will fight Angola’s Christiano Ndo’Mbassy. The fight will take place on Saturday 30 August 2014 in Myolisi Xayo’s hunting ground in Khayelitsha. Interesting enough that Myolisi has been calling out Salie whom has made it clear that he cannot waste his chance of challenging for the national title by losing to a prospect. Xayo is ranked number 10 by Boxing South Africa. A lot is known about the hard hitting Angolan whom has seen many South African boxers not finishing his fights. This particular fight will be a test of readiness for Xayo, who is showing too much hunger for a service man. The undercard will be filled with many Boxers from all over the country whom will be fighting over four rounds.

The undercard is as follows; Lightweight 4 rounds Rushda Mallick vs Zizipho Lituka, Light Heavy 4 Rounds Spargs Van Wyk vs Gerson Singo, Straw weight 4 rounds Lazola Jikazana vs Vuyani Koos, Straw weight 4 rounds Sinethemba Maseti vs Nkwenteni Tini, Starweight 4 rounds Anathi Hela vs SabeloNgebiyana, Bantam weight 4 rounds Themba Mbananga vs Sakhumzi Ngqakatha, Welterweight 4 rounds Zukisani Klaas vs Nicola Jooga, Jr Lightweight 4 rounds Msindisi Sompondo vs Thapelo Ntintili, Junior Bantam weight 4 rounds Simphiwe Mayeza vs Paul Masindi.
