Orlando Pirates Chairman, Dr Irvin ‘Iron Duke’ Khoza has called on all South Africans to rally behind the Bucs and Supersport United who are in the quest of conquering Africa. Speaking on Soccer Zone with Thomas Mlambo on Monday evening on SABC1, the Iron Duke said “It our wish to have a second Star. I’m saying to all South Africans when Pirates and Supersport are playing at home we are either Pirates or Supersport, when we play in Africa we are South Africans, when we play in the world we are Africans. So we expect all South Africans to give the support that we deserve because this is for South Africa,” said Irvin Khoza.

The Sea Robbers will on Saturday the 4th of May exchange swords with TP Mazembe in Lubumbashi in DRC at 17h00. Bucs will go into this clash with their tails up as they were able to smash TP Mazembe by 3-1 in the 1st leg clash in Orlando Stadium on the 20th of April. Dr Irvin Khoza said they want repeat history by taking the CAF champions league for the second time as they did in 1995 and being the only team in South Africa to have lifted the Champions League trophy.

Supersport United will join Orlando Pirates in the task of raising the South African flag in the African continent tournaments. Supersport United will travel to Egypt to battle with Enppi on the 4th of May at 19h30 in a CAF confederation Cup fixture.

The Swanky boys(Supersport United) won in the first round of the CAF Confederation Cup, beating Petro Atletico from Angola by 2-0 in Pretoria on Saturday the 6th of April.

Orlando Pirates have one foot in the next round of the CAF champions league. But the Iron Duke warned his charges that they must not be complacent about the 1st leg result. He also pointed out that the Bucs will be playing against 12 men, taking into consideration that TP Mazembe’s fans always come in numbers to pack the Lubumbashi Stadium when the Ravens (Mazembe) are playing.

Orlando Pirates only need a 0-0 draw to go through to the next round of the CAF Champions League.
