Flabba Murder Case Postponed to March 16

The murder case against the woman accused of killing 38-year-old Nkululeko ‘Flabba’ Habedi’s has been postponed to Monday the 16th of March.

The 26-year-old female who has now been identified as Flabba’s girlfriend, Sindisiwe Precious Manqele, appeared briefly in the dock at the Alexandra Magistrates Court on Tuesday morning.

His close friend and fellow Skwatta Kamp group member Lebo ‘Shugasmakx’ Mothibe on Monday afternoon said the rapper argued with his girlfriend before leaving a club in the early hours of the morning. However, friends and family are unaware what the pair was arguing about.

Habedi died in his bedroom at his Alexandra home in the early hours of Monday morning.

According to police, he was allegedly murdered around 2am on Monday. The cause of death, a stab wound to the heart.

Manqele, the artist’s girlfriend, appeared in court claiming to have bruises on her left leg, stitches on her left wrist and stab wounds to her stomach

According to Eye Witness News, Manqele attempted suicide. Luyanda Habedi, Flabba’s young cousin says when she realised he was dead, she took a beer bottle and tried to cut her wrists. Luyanda explains that paramedics bandaged her wrists and she was then removed from the scene by police.

The magistrate has agreed to her being examined by a private doctor in the Johannesburg prison.

The late rapper won several awards for his work with the popular SA hip hop group Skwatta Kamp and his solo projects. Including winning best rap album in 2007 at the South African Music Awards (SAMA’s)

South Africa’s hip hop community is still in shock over the rapper’s death. The Department of Arts and Culture says it’s saddened by Flabba’s killing.

Minister Nathi Mthethwa has described the 38-year old’s death as a loss to South Africa’s creative industry.

The motive behind the murder is still unknown.
