Phillipi East’s son Lunga Sitemela had a public workout on Saturday in Phillipi Plaza near Crossroads. This was an unprecedented attempt to woo supporters back into the sport of Boxing. The crowds were amazed by the humility and the hard work that the Boxer dubbed “Pressure Cooker” displayed. He will be challenging for the vacant ABU South Junior Lightweight title against Wilson Masamba of Malawi. Lunga Sitemela in just 11 fights is the former ABU South Lightweight champion and 6 of his foes did not finish their fights with him. He is not a knockout specialist but when an opportunity presents itself he does not hesitate to know an opponent.

Not a lot is known about Lunga’s opponent except that he has 43 fights and has won 29 fights losing 12. This is by far the most experienced fight that Lunga has ever faced and winning this one will guarantee him a space in the contention for the prestigious South African title held by Phila Mpontshane of Mdantsane. Lunga is the 2017 South African prospect of the year and his growth has been criticised a lot by others as it seemed to have reached a halt when he vacated his ABU Lightweight title. Now he is back on track appearing hungrier for the accolades.

His fight is on 29 March in Wynberg Military base, Sports Complex and will be hosted by Kalakoda promotions. In the undercard the are many mouth-watering bouts such as Jimmy Mabundji vs Yanga Pethani, Emille Kalekuzi vs Freeman Mabvongwe. The fight will be streamed live on Youtube and on Kwese Sports app and also shown live across the continent of Kwese TV.
