Orlando Pirates is out of the Absa Premiership title battle after losing 1-0 to Chippa United last night at Orlando Stadium. Orlando Pirates came to this game confident about winning it but Chippa United denied them. Pirates’ mission impossible was made by Brent Carelse who put Chippa United on the lead and gave his team hope to get out of relegation. Chippa United moved from position 16 to 14 after 28 games, with 2 games remaining this season in Absa Premier Soccer League.

Before the game, Pirates’ PRO Micky Modisane said they were going to win all the four remaining games and they didn’t care about United’s situation. “We are going to beat Chippa United and we don’t care about the situation they are in”, said Micky Modisane before the game. However things turned sour when Pirates were beaten.

Pirates is currently sitting at position 3 after 27 game with 49 points. Pirates’ hope now is on Caf Champions League because even if they win all the remaining games, they only stand a better chance to be at position 2.

Should all the top 3 teams win their remaining games, Pirates will finish with 58 points, Platinum Stars with 59 and Chiefs 65. Therefore Chiefs stand a much better chance of winning the league. They will be playing against Ajax Cape Town this afternoon at 17:h00 at Cape Town Stadium. If Chiefs win this game, they will have won the league title. However, it will still be mathematically possible for Platinum Stars to win the league so Chiefs will not be crowned the champions yet.
