starlight-expressOne of the longest running musicals in the world, Starlight Express, has finally arrived in Johannesburg during the production’s 25th anniversary celebrations.

Starlight express is a newly adapted production, by the award-winning director Janice Honeyman, which will be staged at the Joburg Theatre tonight from 8pm to 10pm. It was originally written by Andrew Lloyd Webber for his children, it is a roller-skating love story musical about duelling trains began like most train journeys filled with speed, energy, enthusiasm from the characters, power-charged moves and some of Lloyd Webber’s most musical hits.

Starlight Express has been staged across the globe and to celebrate its 25th year in 2013 in South Africa again is definitely an honour for South Africans. The original production was staged at the Apollo Victoria Theatre in London on 27 March 1984 and in April 1991 it became the second longest-running musical in London’s theatre history.
