The Top 20 Comrades Marathon 2023 Winners

The 96th Comrades Marathon has come and gone. The race, which was a down-run, was won by South African runner Tete Dijana for the second year in a row, with a record-breaking time of 05:13:58. Piet Wiersma (Netherlands) and Edward Mothibi (South Africa), finished at the second and third positions, respectively. Interestingly, this year’s top 3 winners broke the previous record of 5 hours, 18 minutes and 19 seconds, which was set by David Gatebe in 2016.

In the women’s category, the winner was Gerda Steyn (South African), who crossed the finish line in a record-breaking time of 05:13:58. Adele Broodryk and Carla Molinaro, both also South African, came in second and third, with finishing times of 05:56:26 and 06:00:23, respectively. Broodryk impressive finishing time made her the second fastest female finisher in the history of the Comrades Marathon.
