Gospel singer Sfiso Ncwane, who died on Monday at Life Fourways Hospital in Johannesburg, will be laid to rest on Saturday at Heroes’ Acre Cemetery in Chesterville, Durban, it has been announced.
Two memorial services will be held in Durban and Johannesburg. The first one will be held in Durban at Ethekwini Community Church on Thursday and the second one in Johannesburg at Grace Bible Church on Friday. Both memorial services will start at 11:00 am. The funeral service will take place at Moses Mabhida Stadium on Saturday at 09:00 am.
Ncwane died unexpectedly on Monday after suffering from kidney failure. His death sent shockwaves throughout the music community and the country at large. It is reported that his mother collapsed when she heard the sad news. Tributes have been pouring in from all corners of the world since the news of Ncwane’s death broke on Monday. Many people are still finding it hard to come to terms with the fact that he is gone.
Ncwane was one of the most successful gospel artists in the country. According to Mxolisi Mhlongo, who worked with Ncwane on some of his albums, the album ‘Kulungile Baba’ sold more than 300000 copies.
Although Ncwane’s death came as a shock, he seems to have foreseen it. One of his latest songs talks about his death and how he will be remembered for his good works. Also, a week ago he wished his fans a Merry Christmas in advance on Instagram. “Happy Christmas in advance from the Ncwanes,” he wrote.
Wow. He looked so good and healthy. No signs of sickness. Death be not proud. May he rest in peace.
