Usain Bolt wins 200m first round in 20.39 seconds

Usain Bolt is likely to defend his 200m championship. This Jamaican sprinter won the first round of this race in 20.39 seconds on Tuesday. He was 1.09 seconds away from breaking the current Olympic record (19.30) which he set in 2008 in Beijing. In 2009, he set a world record of 19.19 in Berlin.

Bolt has already successfully defended his championship in the 100 meters. He won this race on Sunday and set a new Olympic record (9.63 seconds). He will be competing in the 200m semi-finals on Wednesday. The finals will take place on Thursday.
